Sources: Tucumán Noticias (San Miguel de Tucumán) and Argentina public holidays (qppstudio.net). Argentine President, Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, confirmed earlier rumours that she would decree Monday, October 13, 2008, as a day in lieu public holiday to compensate the fact that the Día de la Raza public holiday falls on a Sunday in 2008.
It is not clear, yet, if this is to be a permanent change or not, but in any case the issue will not come up again until 2013, when the Día de la Raza public holiday falls on a Saturday, and in 2014 when the Día de la Raza public holiday falls on a Sunday again.
