UK Public Holiday To Mark Queen Elizabeth's 60th Wedding Anniversary: Status Report

Following-up on our report of February 28, we have reviewed the reports of a proposed public holiday, to be held in late August 2007, to mark Queen Elizabeth's 60th Wedding Anniversary. After face-to-face meeting with the editorial teams of the 2 most important, and prestigious, diary publishers of the United Kingdom, Charles Letts and Filofax, we have decided to remove from the list of potential public holidays displayed on the page of UK public holidays. The reasons are twofold; first no mention has been made of this possible public holiday since the story first appeared at the end of February 2007, and secondly, any such one-time, public holiday must be gazetted at least 6 months before its date.
