Germany's Majority Opposed to Removal of a Public Holiday to Finance State Pension Plans

A recent poll taken by the Postbank reveals that only 26 percent of those polled are in favor of the removal of one of Germany's public holidays, to help fund State pension plans, while 63 percent are against and 13 percent are either undecided or would not answer. Analysis: This poll was taken as rumours have been circulating since the last federal elections, that the German government was considering the removal of one of Germany's public holidays, to help fund State pension plans, in a move akin to the removal of Whit Monday in France, to help finance services for the dependent elderly.
