Saipan Governor Considering Making Austerity Fridays Into Public Holidays
Sources: The Saipan Tribune and Saipan public holidays. In his annual State of the Commonwealth speech, last week, Governor Benigno R. Fitial suggested that austerity Fridays be replaced with unpaid legal holidays. A House-approved bill proposing this is sitting now in the Senate. This would make every other Friday a forced, unpaid public holiday, for civil servants.
