Chile Reported As Considering Canceling Catholic Public Holidays

Sources: El Mercurio (Santiago) and Chile public holidays (qppstudio.net). A recent article in The Economist quotes sources in the Government of Chile as saying that it was considering removing some catholic public holidays related to the Virgin Mary, such as July 16, August 15, and December 8. This would be to compensate for the recently added October 31 public holiday and last year's passing of legislation enshrining the concept of Sandwich Day public holidays.
