Malaysia Considers Making Upcoming Thaipusam A Full National Public Holiday

Speaking at the Ponggal festival at Jalan Masjid India, yesterday, Malaysia's Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, said that he would consider making Thaipusam, which will occur on Wednesday, January 23, this year in Malaysia, into a full national public holiday (currently Thaipusam is only a Stat public holiday in Selangor, Penang, Perak, Negri Sembilan and Johor).
