Panama Bridge Public Holidays Reform Law Passed

Sources: Crítica en Linea and Panama public holidays. After many months of discussion and rumour (see our various posts on the topic), Bill 351 which aims to restore the concept of bridge holidays (días puente) in Panama, has been passed after its third and final floor vote.

The law specifies that, starting in 2008, the public holidays of January 9 and November 28 will move to the nearest Monday, if they occur on a mid-week date. The law also gives the executive branch (the President) to power to make other public holidays into días puente.
