Sources: bdnews24 and Bangladesh public holidays. Late last night, after a meeting of the Council of Advisers, chaired by chief adviser Fakhruddin Ahmed, the interim government of Bangladesh announced that the November 7th public holiday would be cancelled, starting in 2008.
This public holiday, also called "National Revolution and Solidarity Day", was a public holiday from 1976 to 1996 and then again from 2001 to 2007. It, and the August 15 public holiday (see our post of August 6) have come and gone many times as coup and counter-coup changed the power structure of Bangladesh, since its separation from Pakistan in 1973.
