India: September 28 Public Holiday In Udupi District

Sources: Daijiworld Media Network and India public holidays. The Udupi district administration has declared a regional public holiday on Friday, September 28, 2007, in the areas where the upcoming local body elections are to be held.

This will apply to government industrial institutes, Town Municipalities, Town Panchayat, Zilla Panchayats, Corporations and Boards, all educational institutions including aided schools, nationalized banks and other banks, LIC under Negotiable Instruments Act.

Note that, in India, the dates of elections are often declared "dry" days (ie. bars are closed and restaurants will not serve alcohol).
