Canada's Federal Elections To Be Held Every Four Years From Now On

Sources: Government of Canada Privy Council Office, Radio-Canada and Canada public holidays. The Canadian Senate has passed the Fixed Election Dates Bill. This bill proposes that Canadian federal elections be held on the third Monday in October, four years after the previous general election day, and specifically sets out the date for the next general election as October 19, 2009. The proposed legislation, Bill C-16, is scheduled to receive royal assent on Thursday.
