Late last night, Bangladesh's National Moon Sighting Committee and Religious Affairs Committee announced that the moon of the month of Shaban had been sighted in Bangladesh's sky earlier that night and therefore that the upcoming Shab-e-Barat (night of fortune and forgiveness) would be observed on Sunday, May 22, 2016, to be accompanied by the corresponding annual non-working public holiday in Bangladesh.
