Latvia Fails To Pass Orthodox Christmas Public Holidays Bill

Sources: Integration and Minority Information Service (Riga) and Latvia public holidays (qppstudio.net). Yesterday, the bill declaring Orthodox and Old Believers' Christmas as public holidays in Latvia was rejected in its third reading in the Saeima (Latvia's Parliament). It is now expected that the final reading of the draft amendments to the Law on Holidays, Remembrance and Celebration Days will grant the status of a celebration day to Orthodox Christmas.
