Sources: Philippines Information Agency (Tacloban City) and Philippines public holidays (qppstudio.net). Reacting to the many queries received about what weekday would be a public holiday, as November 1st falls on a Saturday in 2008, Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita re-stated that both Friday, October 31, and Monday, November 3, 2008, would be regular working days.
Secretary Ermita, however, said that traditionally, government agencies allow their respective employees to work half-day on October 31 in order to enable them to go home to their provinces for the observance of All Saints' Day and All Souls Day.
