India's Karnataka Makes Kannada Rajyotsava Public Holiday Mandatory Starting This Year

The government of the India state of Karnatake (which includes Bangalore) has directed all establishments, public and private, in Karnataka to henceforth declare a holiday annually on November 1 on the occasion of Kannada Rajyotsava.

Labour minister, B N Bachhe Gowda, and Kannada Development Authority (KDA) chairman, Mukhyamantri Chandru, told reporters that the government had invoked Section 3 of the Karnataka Industrial Establishments (National Festivals) Act 1963 to enforce their decision upon the private sector.
