Turkmenistan Returns To Gregorian Calendar Month Sequence

Sources: Trend and Turkmenistan public holidays (qppstudio.net). The Mejlis (Parliament) of Turkmenistan has adopted a new constitution which enshrines its resolution of last spring "On [the] national system of chronology in Turkmenistan" under which Turkmenistan would return to universally recognized (Gregorian) month names and sequence.

The days and months of the year had been renamed, in 2002, by former President-for-life, Saparmurat Niyazov, based on his own name, that of his mother, and chapter names from the book he wrote called the Rukhnama.
