Philippines May Yet Again Review Its Holidays Law

Sources: Philippine Daily Inquirer (Manila) and Philippines public holidays (qppstudio.net). Philippines Senator, Benigno Aquino III (aka. “Noynoy”), has announced that he will soon introduce legislation to change the "holiday economics" policy mandated by last year's Republic Act No. 9492, which moves certain public holidays, except those religious in nature, to form three-day weekends to encourage travel and leisure spending (see our post of July 25, 2007).

Two of the public holidays that Senator Aquino III specifically mentioned as it not being proper to move were Independence Day (June 12) and the anniversary date of the assassination of his father, Sen. Benigno Aquino Jr., on August 21.
