Paraguay Pressured To Apply 2001 Law On Mid-Week Public Holidays

Arguing that mid-week closures of businesses hurt productivity, the leader of Paraguay's leading trade association, the Federación de la Producción, la Industria y el Comercio (Feprinco), Max Haber, has indicated that he will soon meet with the government to petition it to start using its discretionary powers to move mid-week public holidays to the following Monday, powers that were given to it by law 1723/01, but have so far rarely been used.
