Poland Epiphany Public Holiday Restoration Gaining Momentum

Sources: Catholic World News (Warsaw) and Poland public holidays (qppstudio.net). The petition launched last March, to restore the January 6 Epiphany public holiday, has now reached the half-million real, pen and ink, signatures mark. The petitions have been presented to the speaker of Poland’s parliament, Bronislaw Komorowski.

Epiphany was a national public holiday in Poland until 1960, when it was abolished by the Communist government. Since Poland regained its independence in 1991, all other holy days of obligation have been recognized as national holidays in Poland.
