
Although there is no recent historical data on the status of election day in Angola (the last elections were in 1992), our local contacts, and the choice of a weekday date, lead us to believe that Friday, September 5, 2008, will be declared as a one-off public holiday in Angola.
Update, June 6: The Angolan government approved on Thursday here the Law-decree on the observance of a bank holiday on September 5, Election Day, in an extraordinary session of the Cabinet Council. Source: Angola Press Agency (Luanda).
