Panama: November 6 Is A Regular Working Day

Sources: La Estrella and Panama public holidays. In the last few days, there have been reports that a four-day public holiday would be starting today, Saturday November 3, 2007. This would have meant that Tuesday, November 6, 2007 would, unexpectedly, be a public holiday in Panama.

To be sure, we telephoned the head redactor of the La Estrella newspaper in Panama, who kindly took our call, late in the night, and confirmed that our previous listings of Panama public holidays were correct, and that Tuesday November 6 would be a regular working day.

The redaction at La Estrella further submitted the opinion that the draft law changing the date of fixed date public holidays from mid-week to the nearest Monday (see our post of October 14), if it actually passed, would not pass in time for the next such public holiday, Independence Day, on November 28.
