Taiwan To Declare October 24 As "United Nations Day"

Following yet another refusal by the United Nations to accept Taiwan as a member, Taiwan's Minister of the Government Information Office, Shieh Jhy-wei , announced that the Ministry of the Interior is planning to designate October 24 (the day when the U.N. Charter came into force in 1945) as "Taiwan's United Nations Day", although it will not count as a national public holiday.
