As speculated in our post of August 28, last night, the Libyan Center for Remote Sensing and Space Science (LCRSS), declared that Libya would begin the month of Ramadan on Wednesday, September 12, 2007, a full day before almost all other Muslim countries.
Although the first day of the month of Ramadan is not a public holiday in Libya, the end of Ramadan is, and since months of the Muslim calendar can only have 29 or 30 days, the early start of the month of Ramadan means that the end of Ramadan public holiday will be similarly moved forward.
