Ireland Not Considering Adding A New Public Holiday "At The Moment"

Sources Sunday Tribune and Ireland public holidays. Minister for labour affairs, Tony Killeen, was quoted as stating, in the Dail last week, that no increase in public holidays was being contemplated "at the moment". However both the Public Service Executive Union and the Irish Congress of Trade Unions are pushing for extra public holidays as part of the current national agreement negotiations. The last time a new public holiday was added to Ireland's list was the May Bank Holiday, in 1994, as part of the Programme for Competitiveness and Work.
