India's Himachal Pradesh Government Declares May 23 Public Holiday in State Capital

Earlier today, the Himachal Pradesh State Government declared a public holiday on Wednesday May 23, 2007, to coincide with the municipal elections in its State capital, the Shimla Municipal Corporation (SMC). Employees working in government offices, boards, corporations, educational institutions and industrial establishments, within the SMC area, will remain closed on that day due to polling.
