April 26 Malaysia Public Holiday Not Compulsory for Private Sector

Source: Malaysian National News Agency. The Malaysian Human Resource Minister announced that the April 26, 2007, public holiday would be a holiday only for employees in the public sector, but that the government "would encourage the private sector to also do the same".

Analysis: This public holiday is to mark the coronation of Seri Paduka Baginda Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Mahmud Al-Muktafi Billah Shah, the country’s 13th Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
