The UAE Government announced in a circular, today, that Saturday March 31 was designated as a public holiday to mark the birthday of Prophet Mohammad, and that Sunday April 1st, 2007, would be a normal working day for UAE civil servants, noting that "there will be no compensation or extension of the Saturday holiday".Analysis: This is in line with the Cabinet decision that bars compensation for any public holiday that falls on another public holiday, or in this case a weekend holiday. While the public sector will not receive a day off, some in the private sector do at the discretion of their employer.
